Open day 2023

Jurgen Persijn, tutor Expert class Book design

Are you professionally active, but do you want to continue to develop within the graphic field? Or do you want to master a new skill?

The Plantin Institute of Typography offers a practical course where you learn how to design type under the roof of the Museum Plantin-Moretus in Antwerp. This Expert class Type design comprises ten daylong sessions, divided over a period of three quarters of a year. This practicum, given on Wednesday, is one of a kind and attracts an international audience of type designers.

We organize the Expert class Book design on Friday. Here you will research different methods to arrive at a well navigable and pleasantly readable book. This online course begin in December 2023.

And then there are our short modules. In November and December, the renowned specialist Dr. John A. Lane will be giving his classes on the History of printing types for the last time. Both of these courses are hybrid, meaning you can attend them either online or on-site at our classroom in Antwerp.

For Dutch-speaking students and professionals we organise a two-year postgraduate course with lectures on Saturdays. The topics range from publishing to book science and from font technology to editorial design. All lectures can also be taken separately as a short module. More about this on our Dutch website.
